Terms that appear as bold words throughout the exercise library: Reward, Marker, Cue, Relaxation Signals and a few more. Definitions are short, and inside you'll find examples from real training.

CueA verbal or hand signal that asks the dog for a specific behaviour ("sit", "down", "go to your place").
End-of-Session SignalA word or gesture that tells the dog the training session is over and they can wander off freely.
Hand CueA hand, palm or body signal that stands on its own or supports a verbal Cue.
LuringA teaching technique: we lead the dog into the desired position with a treat in our hand, then gradually fade the visibility of the treat.
MarkerA short signal (word or click) given exactly when the dog performs the correct behaviour. It tells the dog: "that was it, the Reward is coming".
Relaxation SignalsSmall changes in the dog's body that show tension is dropping: a yawn, a longer blink, the breath, paws tucked under.
Release CueA short word ("ok", "free", "all done") that tells the dog they can leave the position — but the session is still ongoing.
RewardWhat the dog gets in response to a desired behaviour. Most often a treat, but also a toy, petting, or going for a walk.
ShapingA teaching technique in which the dog experiments with behaviours on their own, and we reward the ones we want to see more of.
